The Council, PREMIUM TIMES learnt, may take a decision on a new Inspector General of Police to replace Mohammed Abubakar, the outgoing police boss.
Mr. Abubakar’s tenure is due to end this month after serving for 35 years in the force.

The National Council of States meeting chaired by President Goodluck
Jonathan, is currently in session at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, the second in 2014, is being attended by all former Nigerian presidents except a former head of state and presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.
The former Nigerian leaders present at the meeting are Olusegun Obasanjo, Shehu Shagari, Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, and Abdusalami Abubakar. |
The Council of State, which is the highest advisory body to the
serving president, consists of the Vice President, former heads of
states, governors of the 36 states including Abuja’s minister, former
and present Chief Justices of the Federation, the Senate President, the
Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Inspector General of
Police.
The Council, PREMIUM TIMES learnt, may take a decision on a new Inspector General of Police to replace Mohammed Abubakar, the outgoing police boss.
Mr. Abubakar’s tenure is due to end this month after serving for 35 years in the force.
