Recapture of Chibok town: Hunters and Vigilante group made it possible-Chibok Elders

While Nigerian Army issued a  statement telling the world how they recaptured Chibok town from the  Boko Haram insurgents, elders of Chibok are saying ‘not so fast.’ According to a village elder who spoke to AFP, the vigilante and hunters groups fought inside the town while trained Nigerian soldiers were outside doing a ‘moping operation’.

“The Nigerian Army troops recaptured Chibok at about 7pm last (Saturday) night from Boko Haram insurgents. The town is now secure. Exploitation and mop-up operations are ongoing. More details will follow as soon as they are available,”- Colonel Timothy Antigha, Chief of Staff, Department of Army Public Relations. He made the above statement with no reference to the hunters and Vigilante groups who according to the villagers, were the ones who fought the insurgents.

With this success, this writer thinks is about time, the vigilante and hunter groups were given the green light to invade Sambissa forest. Please give these men their due credit for their outstanding gallantries.
