A 15-year-old goalkeeper in Russia has hit the headlines after crashing his Aston Martin sports car worth around 100 thousand euros - over N20m.
Reports in Russia claim that Konstantin P, a goalkeeper for the Zenith-94 team, paid in cash for the car which was bought just three days earlier. After being involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Tiguan, the shot stopper fled the scene after the incident because he was "scared" - most likely of the serious repercussions about to come his way.
“The car he crashed was bought with his earnings. He did not steal it. We’re sure he was not drunk, but at this age people do not think,” said the director of Konstantin’s soccer club, claim Fakt.
But the youngster, who was driving without a licence, pleads his innocence regarding whose fault the crash was.
"Before leaving the intersection I looked around," said Konstantin. "There was no one. Suddenly, out of nowhere, on the right side of my side flew a Volkswagen Tiguan. My speed was low - about 40-50 km/h [25-30mph], but he was going around 80 km/h [50mph]." According to CarScoops, he's now facing potential charges from the incident.
