In a new video released by Saharareporters, some members of the crew, had a rare encounter with Robert Mugabe, 91 year old president of Zimbabwe, on May 29, 2015 during the swearing-in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The video shows a SaharaReporter crew member having a quick one-on-one conversation with Mugabe upon arrival in his car at the Eagle Square venue of the inauguration event for President Muhammadu Buahri, as Mugabe's aides hurriedly took him down from his car to take a seat at the event.
After the event, again, SaharaReporters crew encountered Mugabe as he made to leave and pressed for an interview with Mr. Mugabe, in what looks an embarrassment, the reporter seek to know when the 91 year old president who had been serving as president since 1987, plans to step down from power and allow real democratic elections in his country.
Angry aides prevented reporters from speaking with Mugabe, even as they insisted they were doing their jobs. He was eventually secured in his car.
