Federal High Court Sacks 22 Illegally Elected APC Council Chairmen in Rivers tate
A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt
on Thursday
nullified the May 23, 2015 Local Government Councils elections conducted by
the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission ( RSIEC ).
Nullifying the elections, Justice Lambo Akanbi declared that it were
held despite a valid court order restraining RSIEC from conducting same.
With the elections nullified, all local government council chairmen and
councilors elected on the illegal premise have been sacked.
Earlier, attempts by the supporters of the sacked councils to intimidate
the judge through explosives failed as Police and security agencies brought
the matter under control.
There was an explosion outside the court premises, but an improvised explosive device planted within the court premises was detonated before it could cause damage.
