Lagos Killer Truck Driver Arrested
The driver of the truck that killed three people at Ojuelegba, Lagos on
Wednesday has been arrested.
Wasiu Adeleke, the suspect, was operating an unlatched container which fell from the Ojuelegba bridge, crushed a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and two other vehicles. He fled from the scene.
The police declared a manhunt for Adeleke and traced him to his hiding place where he was arrested.
The driver is being interrogated at the Area ‘C’ police command, Surulere.
A police source told Crime Watch Today that Adeleke was arrested in the wee hours of yesterday.
He said the police were trying to find out why he failed to latch the container. According to him, as at now, we have arrested the run-away driver. His name is Wasiu Adeleke. We are trying to find out certain information from the man. We are taking him for a psychiatric test. We want to know his mental state before we start digging deep into why he did not latch the container. We want to know whether he has a valid driver’s license.”
The container was removed yesterday morning to avoid traffic gridlock.
The police source confirmed that three persons died in the accident. He said the container fell on top of three vehicles and killed the three occupants.
