New Ooni of Ife crowned, moves to palace

Shortly after being crowned, Oba Ogunwusi emerged in white attire and white crown with a white staff of office.
From Ilofi, he toured different historical compounds in Ife and traditional rites were performed at every compound he entered.
At the Walode compound, Ogunwusi entered a dilapidated building where he was received by some women and spent a few minutes there. As he left the building, a big ram was slaughtered and its blood was sprinkled on the floor.
At a junction around Ilode area, a series of sacrifices were carried out and the traditionalists declared drums open. Since the death of the late Ooni, it was forbidden for anyone to beat the drum in Ife until the rites were performed.

The new Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan
Ogunwusi, was crowned early yesterday at an event attended only by
traditionalists and relocated to the palace in Enuwa from the Ilofi
shrine at Iremo after 21 days in seclusion for the coronation rites.
