Governor Bindow Denies Involvement In Arms Deal Scandal
Governor Umar Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State has denied collecting N19b on behalf of the Chairman Senate Committee on defense from the immediate past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, as Deputy Senate Chairman for Defense Committee.
Governor Bindow, who was reacting to media publication that he was involved in the arms murky deal and may be asked by the anti-graft agencies to return N19b allegedly diverted as the Senate Vice Chairman on Defence, Army and Airforce, said his hands are clean and unaware of such transaction.
A statement issued on Sunday by the state Commissioner for
Information, Ahmed Sajoh, said that Governor Bindow hand is clean in the
ongoing saga on arms deal leveled against the former national security
adviser.
He explained that those who are peddling lies about the
funds received from the former NSA, by Governor Bindow would be put to
shame when the dust settles and all will be revealed.
He, however, denied alleged plot to impeach Governor Bindow by a fictitious set of members of the state House of Assembly.
Sajoh said that mischief makers are bent on ensuring that the state
remains stunted in growth and the perpetually backward reason they are
peddling rumors that Adamawa lawmakers have divided over Bindow
impeachment.
