The Nigerian Army has reinstated an army commander whose unit rebelled in Maiduguri in 2014. Major General Ahmadu Mohammed, who was shot at by angry soldiers of the 7th Division in Maiduguri's Maimalari Barracks in 2014, was quietly reinstated by the military high command after he wrote letters seeking his reabsorption into the army.

The Nigerian Army has reinstated an army commander whose unit rebelled in Maiduguri in 2014. Major General Ahmadu Mohammed, who was shot at by angry soldiers of the 7th Division in Maiduguri's Maimalari Barracks in 2014, was quietly reinstated by the military high command after he wrote letters seeking his reabsorption into the army.
The soldiers became angry when they saw the bodies of 12 of their
colleagues being brought back from Chibok. Boko Haram fighters had
killed the soldiers after the militants ambushed a convoy of soldiers
returning from duties in Chibok township the scene of the abduction of
school girls by Boko Haram militants.
A spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Col. SK Usman confirmed the reinstatement of the army General to Saharareporters.
Several soldiers were court marshaled and sentenced to death as a
result of the act of mutiny. General Mohammed was accused of dereliction
of duty and soldiers under his command accused him surreptitiously
aiding Boko Haram militants by sending soldiers to their death with
minimal battlefront support.
