Party’s National Chairman, Chief Olu FalaeTHE Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ogun State chapter yesterday denied that it received part of the N100million Chief Olu Falae collected from Chief Tony Anenih during the last year’s general elections.

The said N100million is alleged to be part of the $2.1billion meant for purchase of military arms but former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki disbursed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful and other sympathisers of the PDP to use to assist former President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid.

Falae who is the National Chairman of the SDP reacting to the controversy trailing the deal admitted that he collected the N100million but he disbursed it to the State chapters of the SDP and other party faithful to use it to canvass votes for Jonathan during the election.

But Ogun SDP yesterday vehemently denied the allegation, saying the chapter was never informed of the said donation (N100million) talk less of receiving part of it.

The party in a statement in Abeokuta stated, “We did not receive any financial or logistic assistance from the National Secretariat of our party or from any of the party officials.”

The statement, jointly signed by the State Chairman, Mr. Olu Agemo and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Clement Adeniyi stressed that the party’s leader, Chief Olusegun Osoba never benefited from the said “largesse”.
According to the statement the party had already made public, through newspapers advertisement the sources of its campaign funds during the election.

The statement read in part “That, the SDP in Ogun State was never notified of, or involved in any negotiation to partner with the PDP or any other party for the purpose of winning the election or maintaining peace during the period and was never informed by the National Secretariat of our party of the decision to adopt former President Goodluck Jonathan orany other candidate as the party’s Presidential candidate.”
The statement urged its members and supporters to ignore Falae’s allegation and remain calm.
