Idris Wada is the third civilian Governor of Kogi State, and the immediate past governor of the State. Idris Wada is a pilot and Business owner. He was born on August 26, 1950 in Dekina, Kogi State.
He attended Government Secondary School Dekina from 1963 to 1968; he later went to Federal Government College, Sokoto 1970 to 1972 to complete his secondary school education.
Idris Wada later furthered his education at the University of Abuja from 1999 to 2004 and 2004 to 2006.
In 1972 after leaving Federal Government College, Sokoto he joined the Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre, Zaria and worked as Flight Instructor from 1973 to 1978. He joined the Nigeria Airways Ltd as a pilot and worked there from 1978 to 1983. He was employed by United Air Services as a Chief Pilot and General Manager from 1983 to 1985.
Determined to be a pro in his field, Idris Wada joined the American Airlines Flight Training Centre, Denver, Colorado, USA for a Boeing 707 Conversion Training in 1984 after which he became the Chief Executive of Executive Aviation Services Nig. Ltd from 1985 to 1988.
In 1987 he acquired more skills in DC 8 Conversion Training at the United Airlines Flight Training Centre, Denver, Colorado, USA.
He was employed by EAS Cargo Airlines Ltd (UK) as MD from 1988 to 1992; he was the MD/CEO of EAS Airlines Ltd from 1993 to 2006.
He worked for Nicon Airways Ltd as the Executive Vice Chairman from 2006 to 2007.
Idris Wada is Executive Chairman of Afroconsult Ltd since 1995 to date. He is the Chairman Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Tech) Potiskum, Yobe State since 2008 to date.
He joined active politics in 2011 and ran for the highest position in Kogi State, the position of Kogi State Governor. He defeated his major opponent Abubakar Audu, succeeding the former governor, Ibrahim Idris his cousin, making him the third civilian governor of Kogi State since the creation of the state in 1992.
He speaks Hausa, Igala, English and Yoruba. His hobbies are: Golf, Tennis, Music and Reading. He is married with children.
