Public Complaints Commission a Viable Tool For Social Justice- Gov Ganduje

Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has described the Public Complaints Commission as a very important organization that reduces litigation in courts and cost of delivery of justice, especially for the less privileged in the society.
The governor stated this on Thursday when the state Federal Commissioner of the agency, Alh. Mahmood Y. Baffa paid him a courtesy call, expressing happiness that through the commission, masses could claim their rights without spending a single Naira.
Dr. Ganduje explained that the state has a similar organization, Kano state Anti Corruption and Complaints Commission, explaining that it operate independently without government interference.
The governor maintained that the state agency is mandated not only to receive complaints and settle disputes but also to dig for corrupt practices in public offices, lamenting that corruption is a very serious and endemic disease in Nigeria.
He noted that APC governments at the state and federal level have been revitalized to fight corruption, pointing out that the number of cases the commission resolved so far is a good omen for the society.
Earlier, the state Commissioner, National Public Complaints Commission, Alh. Mahmood Baffa Yola told the governor that they received 1,498 cases from 2015 to date, adding that 765 were resolved by the agency through its dispute resolution mechanism.
The commissioner said that the objective of the commission is to promote social justice, help individuals citizens to get their rights, provide impartial investigation for those who suffer injustice and advice government on equitable policies.
He appealed to the governor to provide the commission with a piece of land to build its permanent office in Kano.
