Ganduje Approves Admission of More Pupils into Kano-Borno Orphans Boarding School (Picture)

Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the intake of an additional 100 children, orphaned by insurgency from Borno state, into the Kano – Borno Boarding Primary School in Kano city.

The governor announced this today (Wednesday) in Kano while receiving a delegation of government officials from Borno stated led by the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Fanta Baba Shehu in his office.


“Because of the success recorded by the school, with an initial intake of 100 pupils, I discussed with the Governor of Borno state and he agreed to release another 100 children to us. The government of Kano state will fund their education until they complete university education”, the governor declared.

Dr. Ganduje explained that his administration inherited the school from his predecessor, improved its facilities and created enabling environment for non-governmental organizations to contribute to the school, thus making it a model in Kano.

“There is no better service we can render than service to humanity”, the governor asserted, noting happily that even Nigeria’s Vice President had not too long ago visited the school and ate and interacted with the students, who are in very good condition of health.

The governor, who instantly approved a request by the Borno state government that the first set of 100 pupils, be allowed to visit Maiduguri to see their foster parents, directed the leader of the Borno state government delegation to sign an undertaking to return all of them to Kano safely on completion of the holiday.


On her part, the Borno state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Fanta Baba Shehu thanked the Kano state government for the humanitarian gesture urging other state governments to emulate the ideal humanitarian gesture.

She also appealed to the state government to permit the first intake of 100 pupils of the Kano – Borno Boarding Primary School to visit their foster parents in Maiduguri to facilitate socialization.
