Category: Kano News
Nigeria’s one-time Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Y. Danjuma has praised Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for entrenching good governance in Kano since his assumption of office saying, “It takes a man of leadership, sagacity and foresight to build a legacy of a secure, progressive, and orderly society which we are witnessing in Kano today”.
He added: “As I was being conveyed from the airport to this place (Government House) this morning, I observed that most of the streets are well laid out, neat, and with spacious walkways. All these are evidence of the presence of good governance in the state.
He made the remark when he led shareholders of Beverly Development & Realities Limited, promoters/developers of Ado Bayero Mall on a courtesy visit to Governor Ganduje, in Kano, on Tuesday.
“For many of us, who are conversant with Kano before now, what we are witnessing in terms of World Class infrastructure which now adores the state is a testimony that Your Excellency, is performing credibly well ”, General Danjuma told the governor.
A former Minister of Defense, General Danjuma expressed happiness that peace and security have gradually returned to the state, pointing out that without peace, no development will take place and business endeavors would not thrive.
He informed the governor that his delegation is in Kano in connection with the company’s plan to sell its shares through a private placement as a way of raising capital, advising the state government and the business community in the state to invest in the project in view of its projected benefits.
He maintained that having so far revolutionized shopping experience in the state and because it is adding value to the status of Kano as the leading commercial center in West Africa, the Ado Bayero Mall is a project worthy of investing in.
In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje thanked Beverly Development & Realties Limited for locating the mall in Kano, saying the huge edifice has helped in enhancing its status as a commercial city state.
Governor Ganduje expressed determination to make the state an ideal place to do business through the provision of infrastructure especially independent power and solar energy projects, to revive the ailing industries in the state.
He also said premium would be placed on revenue collection, adding that the government planned to execute certain projects solely with internally generated revenue. The governor hinted that such projects would be clearly marked “executed with tax payers money” to encourage the citizens and corporate bodies to pay taxes duly.
The governor directed the state Investment and Property Co., KSIP and the newly created State Investment Promotion Agency to appraise the proposal on investment in the Ado Bayero Mall and advice the government appropriately.
