Sack Buratai Over His Dubai Mansions, Falana Tells Buhari
Category: Nigeria National News
Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Femi Falana has
said President Muhammadu Buhari should terminate the appointment of
Tukur Buratai, a lieutenant-general and chief of army staff, if he
voluntarily fails to resign.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Falana described the defence mustered
for Buratai by the Nigerian army as a “cock and bull story”. He inferred
that it was highly unlikely that Buratai would acquire the property
with his personal savings.
“In view of the ban on the opening and operation of foreign accounts by public officers, the Code of Conduct Bureau should be involved in the investigation If the Chief of Army Staff does not deem it fit to resign forthwith, President Buhari should not hesitate to remove him in the interest of national morality.”
Falana further said that Buratai has to step down if indeed there would be no sacred cow in the fight against corruption, as promised by the Buhari administration.
