Honourable Suleiman Abdurrahaman otherwise known as Kawu Sumaila is a vibrant and consummate politician by all standards. Suleiman AbdulRahaman Kawu Sumaila (OFR) was born March 3, 1968.
Kawu is the SSA to President Buhari on National Assembly (House of Representatives), appointed 27 August 2015. He was a three term member of Nigeria House of Representatives and held the position of Deputy Minority Leader of the 6th and 7th House of Representative of Nigeria.
Suleiman Kawu is an All Progressive Congress (APC) member and served as member of Board of Trustee, National Caucus, and NEC and served as member of central merger committee which formed APC
A native of Sumaila from Sumaila local Government of Kano State, the Deputy Minority leader represents the good people of Sumaila/Takai Federal constituency at the low chamber of the national assembly (House of Representatives).

He proceeded to the prestigious Bayero University Kano where he obtain diploma and Advance diploma in Educational Management. He was also at Qur’anic School where he studied the recitation of the Holy Quran, Sirah, Arabic language and other Isl¬amic aspects in jurisprudence.
On account of his hard working and commitment to duty Hon.
Kawu has Held different positions of responsibilities which includes:-
1- Founding member and pioneer head master at the Ma’aji women Islamiyya school, Sumaila.
2- Board member Kano State library.
3- Chairman local government monitoring committee and coordinator poverty eradication program (NAPEP), Sumaila local government.
4- Chairman education and scholarship committee, Sumaila local government, Kano.
5- Member Kano State Executive committee People’s Democratic Movement (P. D. M.)
6- Accountant in People Democratic Party (P. D. P.)
Elected as member under the platform of All Nigerian Peoples Party (A. N. P. P.) 2003 – 2007 while he served in different committee as follows.
A) House committee on water resources
B) House committee on internal affairs
C) House committee on information
D) House committee on poverty alleviation
E) House committee on science and technology
F) Member ad-hoc committee on the investigations of EFCC activities under Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. 2006
Chairman, All Nigerian Peoples Party (A. N. P. P.) congress committee in Benue 2006
Member All Nigerian Peoples Party (A. N. P. P.) National convention committee 2007 – 2011
Elected Deputy Minority Leader, House of Representatives and later elevated to the position of minority whip
