Police Arraign Four For Stealing Generator In Imo
The Imo State Police Command on Friday charged four suspected armed
robbers to court in Owerri, the state capital. State Police Public
Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, paraded the suspects before newsmen at the command’s headquarters before their arraignment.
The suspects are Ugochukwu Onyema, 30, of Umunkwu Umuezeopara in Isiala
Mbano Local Government Area of the state and Nicholas Akujiobi, 33, of
Umuonumor Uzoagba Ikeduru LGA. Others are Ugochukwu Ohale, 29, of
Umuawaka Emii in Owerri North LGA and Chibuzor Onyenu, 30, of Uzoagba
Ikeduru LGA.
Enwerem explained that they were arrested on April 23, 2017 during a
routine patrol along Naze road in Owerri North LGA of the state. He
added that they were nabbed while carrying a stolen 50KVA sound-proof
generator in a Nissan Wagon vehicle with registration number KRD687AM.
Enwerem said, “On April 23,2017, operatives of the Imo State Police
Command arrested the above named suspects during a routine patrol along
Naze in Owerri North LGA.
“Suspects were arrested while conveying a stolen 50KVA sound-proof
Perkins power generator in a Nissan Wagon vehicle with Reg. No.
KRD687AM.
“Investigation revealed that the Perkins power generator belongs to
Amanba Ebikoro Community in Ikeduru LGA. Investigation has been
concluded and suspects would be charged to court this morning.”
The state PPRO explained that the generator was recovered from the suspects as an exhibit.
When interviewed, one of the suspects, Onyema, who said that he was
into repair of generators, admitted that he knew that the generator was a
stolen item, but opted to buy it for N400,000.
He said he had no money at the moment to buy the stolen item and
contacted another person, identified as Dogwo, adding that it was in the
process that he was nabbed by the police while Dogwo ran away.
