“Having carefully considered the evidence of parties, the court is of the view that the relationship between the couple has broken down to a point of irreconcilability.
“Therefore the marriage is hereby dissolved and custody of the only child of the marriage is to remain with the plaintiff.
“Defendant is ordered to be forthwith financially responsible to his child by paying the plaintiff, via the court registry, the sum of N3, 500 monthly being money for child support,’’Balogun said.
Earlier, Ganiyat, who instituted the case, said her husband had never lived up to his responsibilities as husband and father to their only child.
She also accused the defendant of deserting her and living permanently in Lagos, while she lives a lonely life in Ibadan with her child.
The plaintiff also said that Safejo had refused to visit her in Ibadan and abused and threatened her during phone conversations.
The defendant, on his part, gave evidence on oath denying the claims.
“Though I work in Lagos, I do visit her in Ibadan to give her money but the problem with my wife is that she is not contented.
“Also, she has never visited my family house since we married seven years ago, saying my family members do not love her.
“I urged the court to grant the divorce request so that she can look for a husband that will be giving her N2 million as feeding allowance,’’ Safejo said.
