Pastor Dotun Adeniyi of the Abundant Life Gospel Church directed the
service. Scripture readings were taken from Romans 14: 7-9, Revelation 22:
10-14, and Revelation 19:5-9.
The presiding bishop was Bishop Mike Okonkwo the General Overseer of The
Redeemed Evangelical Mission.
Bishop Mike Okonkwo started his message with Psalms 90:12. He describes
death as an engine no one can explain. He said no one should try to explain
what had happened.
He challenged the church members to trust in God like Job in the bible who
God took all he had. He said, “When you pray sometimes God answer and say,
“Yes”, sometimes He says, “No” and sometimes He keeps quiet and you don’t
have any way to question Him”
The elegant looking Mike Okonkwo in his full bishop regalia, said when you
don’t understand life just keep on living. He explained that Elisha as
powerful and anointed as he was, died but even after his death, his bones
raised the dead.
“Everyone must die; death is a customized car that everyone must have. When
yours has been fully customized it will arrive at your doorpost and you must
enter it. Everyone’s customized car is presently being constructed”.
He advised and pleaded with people not to question God on how He chooses to
deal with His apostles. Saying that the men of God who died serving Him are
his servants and not the church’s servant and so God has the right to do
what He decides. He mentioned some apostles in the bible who God allowed to
face trials and even death and no one questioned God.
“While Bishop Kola Onaolapo truly loves the church, he would not want to
come back here “Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission said.
He gave the church a message of hope and encouragement from Joshua 1:1,
adding that people should stop saying Bishop Kola Onaolapo died young
because Long Life is the ability to keep speaking long after he has gone!

“I told my congregation that when I die I don’t want anyone to cry for me”
he cracked a joke saying, “If anyone cries when I die I will come out of my
casket and flog the person”
He said people are afraid of death because they are not dead, “When you die
death will fear you”
Bishop Mike Okonkwo read John 12: 24 and concluded his message saying, “Go
forward”
Immediately after the sermon, Kola Onaolapo’s body was taken for
internment within the church premises.
At least 10 bishops were present at the internment, with many General
Overseers from Nigeria and abroad. Others present and represented are: The
United International Association of Pentecostal Bishops, Kingdom Way
College of Bishops, Maryland, United States of America, and International
Fellowship of End-Time Ministries (IFEM), CAN Officials, PFN Officials and
Abundant Life Gospel Church Ministers.
May his soul rest in peace.
