Defection Of Eight Rivers Lawmakers To APC Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish – PDP
Category: Nigeria News
The Rivers State chapter of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has welcomed
the defection of eight members of the House of Representatives from the
state to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The party said “it bids them farewell and wishes that they will turn a
new leaf and abide by the establishing principles of their new found
love, the APC”.
Chairman of the state PDP, Chief Felix Obuah, in a statement signed by his media aide, Jerry Needam,
stated that Wednesday’s formal announcement by the federal lawmakers
that they were leaving the party was long overdue as their continued
presence in PDP was becoming a source of concern and worry to its
leadership, cohesion and smooth running of the party.
The Rivers PDP further noted that the defection of its former members,
who were voted on its platform, was inconsequential and would in no way
affect its success in future elections.
“We also call on the public and our teeming members not to be scared
or perturbed by the unfolding events, as the party still remains in
charge of the state and at the national level, and would ensure that all
bad eggs are separated from the good ones”, the statement said..
“We assure Rivers people and indeed, all Nigerians of good and
focused leadership, and will do nothing to betray the confidence reposed
in the Party”.
Information Nigeria reports that the eight Rivers federal lawmakers
were among 37 others that formally announced their defection to APC on
the floor of the House during plenary on Wednesday.
