Wada Increase Monthly Allocation of Pensioners By 50 Percent
Kogi State Governor Captain Idris Wada
yesterday announced an increase in the monthly allocation for payment of
pensions by 50 per cent. He spoke at an event to mark the 2013
Pensioner’s Day at the Lokoja Township Stadium.
He said in collaboration with the
union, the state government would embark on a pensions verification
exercise to determine the number of pensioners and the financial
implications of increasing the pensions.
According to him, the exercise is not aimed at stopping any
payment, but he urged pensioners to cooperate to ensure success, saying the
welfare of pensioners remains a priority of his administration. Chairman of the
Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Kogi State, Comrade Chief Onu Abdullahi,
commended the governor for according pensioners welfare the deserved attention.
