Obasanjo, Buhari, IBB, Atiku Ignore Centenary Summit and Celebrations


Former Heads of State Olusegun Obasanjo, General Muhammadu Buhari, General Abubakar Abdulsalam, former vice president Atiku Abubakar and Senate President David Mark were absent from today's international summit on security held in Abuja.

The reasons for their nonattendance have not been know at the time of filling this report.

The summit themed 'Human Security, Peace and Development: Agenda for 21st Century Africa' was part of the activities marking the Nigeria's centenary celebration.


In attendance, however, were, the former president Shehu Shagari, former head of state Yakubu Gowon, former head of interim national government Chief Earnest Shonekan, former vice president Alex Ekwueme as well as former chief of staff General Oladipupo Diya.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal and his deputy Emeka Ihedioha also were present at the event.

Atiku Abubakar in his twitter said he was proud of Nigeria's last 100 years, but called the ongoing
celebration "a symbolic dance on the graves of those murdered FGC kids".

He added that the centenary party is a "slap on the faces" of those children's parents:
