Boko Haram Kills Kala/Balge Council Chairman Of The APC.
Suspected members of Boko Haram on Monday killed the Kala/Balge council
chairman of All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Modu Janga, and its youths
leader, Alhaji Abba, Vanguard reports.
Janga and Abba were on their way from to Gudumbali when their vehicle was
attacked by gunmen on the Maiduguri-Dikwa road near Mafa, Borno State around
11am.
“The insurgents blocked the road with wood and tree branches, before
identify occupants of the vehicle and shot dead two persons at the spot,
and fled towards Dikwa, a border town with Cameroon,” an eyewitness
from Mafa, Babagana Usmani, said in a telephone interview today.
The vehicle was hailed “by flagging down the driver for identification”, he
added.
According to Usmani, the attackers left the scene without taking anything
from the vehicle.
The Borno state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jibrin, could
not be reached for comments.
However, a Vanguard’s security source who wanted to stay anonymous
confirmed the incident, saying:
“Armed hoodlums ambushed a vehicle on Dikwa road on Monday; and two
people were feared dead, before the security agents closed the road for
two hours prevent further attacks.”
This is not the firs time the suspected Boko Haram sect attacks Mafa this
year. The most recent assault on the town happened on March 3. Scores
of people were killed and most of the infrastructure – destroyed.
