Members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect on Friday night attacked Liman

of a retired Divisional Police Officer, DPO, along with his two

Residents said the attackers had engaged soldiers in a fierce battle
that lasted several hours before blowing up the bridgeinking the two
states in a bid to escape from the military.
Several houses were also burnt down by the insurgents who also looted food stuffs and other domestic animals.
Many persons are also feared dead.
‘’They came in over ten vehicles, including armoured tank with others
on bikes. The soldiers station who were only about sixteen could not
repel them. They burnt many houses including that of the district head
and while withdrawing from the attack they blew up a bid bridge linking
Adamawa and Borno,’’ said one resident who identified himself as Baba
Marcus.
When contacted, the chairman of Madagali local government, Abawu
James Watharda, confirmed the attack but could not give details of the
casualty.
He said,’’I can’t give the casualty figures but already over 3,000
people have fled the area to Madagali town. The refugees are in need of
assistance; they need food and other amenities.’’
Boko Haram insurgents have in recent times raided many villages for
food. Only last Wednesday night, members of the sect struck in Kishirnga
village in the same local government area and stole two herds of cows
numbering about 170.
