Boko Haram Abducts DPO’s Wife, Children In Adamawa

Members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect on Friday night attacked Liman Kara, a village between Adamawa and Borno states and abducted the wife of a retired Divisional Police Officer, DPO, along with his two children.
 
Residents said the attackers had engaged soldiers in a fierce battle that lasted several hours before blowing up the bridgeinking the two states in a bid to escape from the military.

Several houses were also burnt down by the insurgents who also looted food stuffs and other domestic animals.

Many persons are also feared dead.

‘’They came in over ten vehicles, including armoured tank with others on bikes.The soldiers station who were only about sixteen could not repel them. They burnt many houses including that of the district head and while withdrawing from the attack they blew up a bid bridge linking Adamawa and Borno,’’ said one resident who identified himself as Baba Marcus.

When contacted, the chairman of Madagali local government, Abawu James Watharda, confirmed the attack but could not give details of the casualty.

He said,’’I can’t give the casualty figures but already over 3,000 people have fled the area to Madagali town. The refugees are in need of assistance; they need food and other amenities.’’

Boko Haram insurgents have in recent times raided many villages for food. Only last Wednesday night, members of the sect struck in Kishirnga village in the same local government area and stole two herds of cows numbering about 170.
