Category: Anti-scam Campaign
The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested a 400-level
history student of the Lagos State University (LASU), Efe Joshua Amadin,
for his involvement in Facebook scams.
Amadin was arrested by detectives attached to the Area ‘B’ Police
Command for using a beautiful white woman’s picture as bait to dupe
people who are interested in meeting wives or lovers through interaction
on the social media.
A police source disclosed that although Amadin said he began the
facebook scam two months ago, he had not made any money yet from the
illegal business.
The suspect who resides at Wilmer Crescent, Olodi- Apapa, a suburb of
Lagos, told police that the gang has four members, one of whom is
Olanrewaju, who he said introduced introduced him into the business. He
alleged that the gang provided the picture of the white woman known as
Diana and used the picture to attract suitors who were interested in
getting married to her.
The suspect swore that his family did not know that he was involved
in the scam. He said the intention was to swindle unsuspecting members
of the public of their money. The source also said that the police would
go after the remaining gang members.
He said the area commander, ACP Ndubueze Innocent Anene, has ordered
his men to flush out all criminals in the area and bring them to book.
