Nigerian, Two Others Die in Ghana As Helicopter Crashes Into Sea
Three people, including a Nigerian, were killed while several others
sustained injuries on Thursday when a helicopter carrying eight passengers
crashed off Ghana’s western coast.
Confirming the news, Ghana Armed Forces spokesman M’Bawine Atintande told
Newsmen that the Ghana-registered chopper, which was conveying eight people,
including two crew members and six oil workers, crashed into the sea near
one of the oil rigs, 20 nautical miles off Takoradi, Western Region on
Thursday evening.
The helicopter took off from the coastal town of Takoradi at 12h50 GMT and
had been scheduled to land at a platform offshore at 13h10.
