The Nigeria movie industry popularly known as Nollywood is
filled with lots of veteran actors, who have been around since its
inception, but below are the top 5 actors.
1) Pete Edochie
Pete Edochie, was born 7 March 1947, he is popularly
known as Okonkwo, for the role he played in the adaptation of Chinua
Achebe’s Things Fall Apart. The Enugu State born actor is considered one
of Africa’s most talented actors, by both Movie Awards and Movie
Magic’s Africa Magic Cable network. He has been in the picture from the
inception of Nollywood. Edochie has featured in over 100 movies and he
is renowned for playing Royalty roles and the wicked father, he is also
popular for saying African Proverbs in movies.
2) Olu Jacobs
Oludotun Jacobs- popularly known as Olu Jacobs, born 1942. He has starred in several British television series and international films. He is popular for playing the role of a king, and has won several awards for his outstanding performances. He was born to parents from Egba Alake, and attended Holy Trinity School in Kano.
3) Alex Usifo
Alex Usifo - born on 16 April 1953. He is popular for
playing the role of a strict father. He has featured in over 50 movies.
Alex is popular for his role in the TV series “Beyond The Dreams” which
used to air on NTA.
4) Zack Orji
Zack Orji - born in Libreville, Gabon, in the 1960s, is a Nigerian actor, director, producer and filmmaker. He has featured in
several movies and is a household name in Nollywood. Orji is a graduate
of University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Having grown up in Cameroon, Benin and
Togo he speaks both English and French fluently. He is popular for
movies like Unforgiven Sin, Games Women Play, Submission and many
others.
5) Richard Mofe Damijo
Richard Mofe Damijo - born July 6, 1961. He is loved by
his fans and lots of women, RMD is good looking and extremely talented.
He is one of the respected figures in Nollywood. He has also featured
in several movies and series. RMD was born in Warri, Delta
State, Nigeria. He attended Midwest College, Warri and Anglican Grammar
School and was a member of the Drama Club. He is popular for movies like
Diamond Ring, Tinsel, When God Says Yes and lots of others.
