How Boko Haram Bombed Lagos and Govt Lied It was Gas Explosion

Category: Boko Haram News

We reported on Wednesday night a bomb explosion in Lagos- Apapa area. Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), since debunked the rumor that the explosion was a bomb blast.

In a fresh evidences received from eye-witnesses, the explosion at Folawiyo Energy group at Creek road, Apapa in Lagos was a bomb blast from a female suicide bomber and not a gasoline explosion as stated by the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, who told reporters that the explosion was from a gasoline tanker.

According to an eye witness account, the bomber apparently sought to ignite a series of gas distribution plants and gasoline depots owned by Folawiyo Energy some 150 meters away from the site of the explosion.

Four people were killed by the explosion, among them the female suicide bomber who drove the car that caused the explosion. Eyewitnesses said the head of the female driver (Pictured) lay on the ground next to the Mercedes Benz used in the bombing right in front of Enterprise bank almost opposite the depot and it happened just next to a loaded gas truck.
The explosion was so powerful it ripped open a 40-foot container on the other side of the road and affected buildings within 50meter radius.

A witness said, "I saw 3 mangled bodies near the scene. This second explosion happened within 10mins of the first at about 8.53pm. The explosion actually tore the car to shreds and drilled an unbelievable hole on the road”.

According to a report by Secret Reporters, "We gathered from an authentic source that the female bomber dashed into the depot after receiving a phone call, where she attempted to bomb a loaded truck of petrol, which didn’t happen before she exploded but died alongside a safety officer in the depot whose name we are still trying to get as at press time. Our source was able to get the picture of the female suicide bomber."

Another account by Sharara Reporters  said, "The Federal emergency officials said they were denied entry to the scene of the car bomb and were excluded by Lagos officials from participating in the rescue and recovery process, in an apparent move to hush up the news of the bombing."

Even though LASEMA claimed that the 9.15 p.m. explosion was a gas cylinder explosion at a facility owned by Folawiyo Energy Limited (FEL), the management of the company issued a statement dissociating itself from the claim. A statement signed by the company’s media consultant, Muyiwa Adekeye, said the explosion did not happen on its premises.

An account by Vanguard newspaper that first pointed to evidence of a car bombing suggested that Boko Haram militants might have targeted the farm tank with highly inflammable material packed in a Mercedes Benz car in order to avoid detection and cause grave damage.
