Police Inspector Shoots Himself Dead While Testing His Gun

After arresting a man for attempting to commit suicide, a police inspector attached to the Patrol and Guard (P&G) Unit at the Aba Central Police Station (CPS) in Abia State, allegedly shot himself dead accidentally on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Sunday at about 10 pm after the police officer identified as Inspector Sunday Mefo had booked and collected a Kalashnikov rifle, which he was to use for night duty.
According to reports, Sunday Mefo in a bid to test the effectiveness of the rifle, pulled the trigger of the gun, in the process, one of the bullets in the cache accidentally went off and hit him in the leg and he fell.
Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment, he died Monday morning.
