Robbers Kill Manager, Others in Owo Bank Robbery
According to Punch, bandits, numbering about 10, struck in Owo town in Ondo State on Thursday, robbing several banks and killing a bank manager.
Our correspondent gathered that the armed robbers killed the Manager
of one of the raided banks in the town and a bank staff during the
robbery operation.
It was learnt that the deceased, whose identities were yet to be
ascertained, were shot by the robbers when they refused to cooperate
with them.
Residents said the armed robbers, who came into the town through the
Abuja-Owo road area at about 5pm, started shooting sporadically into the
air until they got to the heart of the town, where they robbed three
branches of new generation banks.
It was also learnt that some bystanders, who were caught in the attack, were either killed or seriously injured.
A resident, who would not want to be named, said the incident took
place with policemen in sight, who could not challenge the robbers.
The hoodlums escaped with an undisclosed amount of money carted from the banks after two hours of operation.
