BREAKING NEWS: Bukola Saraki Emerges President of Nigerian Senate

Bukola Saraki has been elected the President of the Nigerian Senate of the eight session of the national assembly.

Only Bukola Saraki was nominated by the senator-elect for the position and has been sworn in.

Abubakar Bukola Saraki (born 19 December 1962) is a senator for Kwara, Nigeria. He was elected in the April 2011 elections, having previously served two terms in office as governor of Kwara State.



He is currently a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and is a former member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Saraki's father, Olusola Saraki, was a former senator of Kwara State.

In a related development, Senator Ike Ekweramadu has emerged the Deputy Senate President of the 8th National Assembly.
