Prince Abubakar Audu was first reported to be dead by Sahara Reporters. After the news went viral, more details emerged as to how the former governor met his demise.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate of the Kogi State governorship election, Alhaji Abubakar Audu who was leading in the election, died Sunday afternoon from what was believed to be a cardiac arrest.

Sources said he started vomiting blood and could not be resuscitated.

It is not certain if he gave up the ghost before the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state or after the declaration.

According to The Cable, Audu complained of stomach cramps before going to bed last night.

He subsequently suffered a stroke this morning around 9am.

Later in the afternoon, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive, Audu suffered another stroke and passed away.

The 68 year old is survived by wives and children.
