Nigerians are still expressing shock at the images of Peoples Democratic Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in handcuffs in the courts Tuesday, January 18, 2016.

Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau has been accused of being the person who gave the instruction for Metuh to be handcuffed for the purpose of humiliating him and “splashing the photos in the newspapers on Wednesday”.

According to an anonymous Twitter user, who often has insider information on security matters, Dambazua has called the comptroller of Prisons in charge of Kuje, ACP Musa Tanko issuing stern warnings and threats over Metuh’s condition while in remands.

According to the information available, Dambazua declared Metuh an “enemy of the state” and ordered the Prisons officials to be “extremely hard” on him. Another person, who was unnamed, also made a call to Tanko over the treatment of Metuh in prison remand.

Metuh was granted bail at the court today where he is facing a 7-count charge for money laundering brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He is expected to present two sureties of N200 million each with landed properties in Maitama.
