Simon Achuba

Former Deputy Governor, Kogi State. He was impeached in 2019 by the Kogi State House of Assembly, shortly before the end of their tenure and was replaced by Edward Onoja, the former Chief of Staff to the state governor, Yahaya Bello.

Achuba was born July 13, 1964 in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State, though unconfirmed reports have it that he is originally from Aguleri in Anambra State.

Achuba filled the vacuum after Hon. James Faleke, the running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu, refused to accept the position of deputy governor, saying he ought to be the governor.

Following his refusal, Bello Yahaya, the governor of Kogi State picked Achuba as his deputy, he was sworn in February 9 2016 at the banquet hall of the government house.

Before becoming the deputy governor of Kogi State, Achuba was a member of the House of Assembly between 1999 and 2007.

Between 2003 and 2007, he assumed the office of the deputy speaker of the House. He also served as Chairman, Kogi State Environmental Protection Board, during the tenure of the former governor, Idris Wada.

He was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party but defected to the All Progressives Congress in May, 2015. This was after the PDP lost the 2015 presidential election to the APC.

Achuba is happily married man with children
