Basorge Tariah, Jnr
Basorge Tariah, Jnr, born Basoene Kelsey Tariah Jr, is a Nigerian Comedian, actor, director, producer, a writer, compere, dancer, composer, singer and choreographer. He is
known for his role in "My Guy", "The Meeting" and "Domitilla"
He was born to Mr A-nat Tariah, retired bank manager and a former Kingsway Stores supervisor, Mrs Doris Tariah, in June 1967 at Baguma, Kalabari, Rivers State.
He attended Township Primary School and Enitona High School, both in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, before proceeding to the University of Port Harcourt where he read Theatre Arts and graduated with a B.A in 1993.
Basorge who started his career as a dancer, later became a
choreographer, with a degree in Choreography, and became a director,
writer. He was at a time a stand-up comedian, MC and a freelance
model, with little knowledge of journalism.
He was a dance champion in 1983 after winning the National Dancing Competition.
He made his first professional appearance as a stand-up comedian at the University of Port Harcourt in 1989, where he was paid N171, approximately $0.48 for the job.
Basorge oversees "Creek Search Initiative (CSI)", a national project which addresses the falling standards and the winning hopes of the young generation.
He currently plays the character "Do Good" in a popular TV series on Africa Magic, "Do Good" where he stars alongside with Kate Henshaw. He is the script writer, lead actor and Executive producer of the TV series.
Some successful artistes who were mentored by Basorge include; Timaya, Teju Babyface, Jedi, De Don, Gentle Jack.
His close friends and associates include; Kate Henshaw, Azuh Arinze, Ali Bab, Tee A, Julius Agu, Francis Duru. He once mentioned former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, currently serving minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a role model.
He is married happily married to Doris Basoene Tariah, and they have four children.
