Humility and Obedience Brings Favor
Humility will brings you before kings, it brings you before people of authority, it gives you keys to some doors. When you are humble, people will love to associate with you and they will honor you.
After King Xerxes have decreed and banned Queen Vasthi from his presence, he sought a woman, and his advisers went to look for a beautiful virgin for the king.
So some beautiful virgins across the town were selected including Esther. The women would be taken to the king’s palace and trained for a period of time. When their time comes, they are taken into the king’s private rooms; the next day they are taken to another place and would never see the king again unless the king requested for them by name.
So when it was Esther’s turn, she took advice from Haggai, the king’s bodyguard, she accepted Hegai’s advice.
Esther 2:15B, 17 “When it was Esther’s turn to go to the king, she accepted the advice of Hegai, the eunuch in charge of harem. She asked for nothing except what he suggested, and she was admired by everyone who saw her. And the king loved Esther more than any of the other young women. He was so delighted with her that he set the royal crown on her head and declared her queen instead of Vashti”
That’s what favor and humility does! Remember, the other girls were virgin too just like Esther. But she was favored because she took advice from the king’s bodyguard and she obeyed the instruction, she was humble enough not to look down at the king's body guard.
In today's world many girls or lady would have looked down at the king's body guard. Some would have said, is it not that ordinary security guard, is it not an ordinary junior staff, why should I listen to him, who is he to give me that kind of advice, forgetting that wisdom comes from God to only those who are humble enough to see it.
Esther 2:18 “To celebrate the occasion, the king gave a great banquet in Esther’s honor for all his nobles and officials, declaring a public holiday for the provinces and giving generous gifts to everyone.
The same way you can be promoted at your place of work for just being humble and you can be dismissed for one single act of arrogance.
That’s what favor does, but it doesn’t come by mere wishing. There must be test; it’s such tests that brings favorable results when you pass.
Favor comes to those who are thirsty for it, favor comes as a result our our humility and willingness to do the things that are required of us at all time.
Ask God for favor today.
God bless you!
