Husband, Wife and Lover (II)
The quietness and silence that followed was like that of a grave yard! Ade was holding on to the rail of the veranda where he stood, thinking, “how did I get myself into this kind of mess”
Mr. Chuks on the other hand was feeling kind of remorse, while Segun the mechanic was becoming afraid. The whole thing was not going according to the way he thought he would. He had relied so much on Chuks to deal in any way with the stupid Ade, not because he believed he was fucking Chuk’s wife but because he felt he should be humiliated for dealing such a bad blow on him.
He was hoping that somehow, the pain he was going through would be evened; he had lost most of his customers who believed him, following his failure to be able to fix the car. He blamed the hernia operation for his inability to do the things he used to before.
Imagine being helpless in the presence of mechanics he trained, he had even spent so much money from his personal savings and borrowing just to fix the car. Something was not alright in the connection between Angela and Ade.
He had not seen them together but he had a strong feeling that something was not okay in the relationship between them.
Aside the issues with the car he feels Ade was actually a nice guy, very calm, quite and articulated.
Chucks was wondering why situation got to this, he actually trusts his wife, Angela was too good to be involved in an immoral affair with another man. She doesn’t even like sex that much, so why would she want to engage in it with another man?
She was probably trying to get a revenge on him for sleeping with her sister! But not by revenging with ‘sleeping’ with another man. She could have just ended the marriage based on his infidelity but not to cheat with another man.
And this Ade guy, he is someone he had become fond of, not just because Angela was always talking about him but he doesn’t feel he is capable to sleeping with his wife, after all he is a married guy too, and won’t want someone else to sleep with his wife and looked too calm.
But what of all the rumors, he has heard the gist from up to four sources and even Angela’s younger sister he slept with.
The thought of the sex he had with Emmanuelle, Angela’s sister made him shiver, she was not only good in bed, she was beautiful and young.
Well, behind every rumor is a little truth. There is no smoke without fire. Even the bible said there should be witnesses, he has had more than enough, four people including Angela’s sister. But Emmanuelle could have done all these out of jealousy, especially since the relationship between her and the sister was no longer as it used to be.
As for Angela, after he had confessed to her about sleeping with her sister, she forgave him and they had even become closer until this Ade surfaced.
Just then, a lady living in one of the apartments in the compound broke the long silence with a sudden humming and then singing…
“My God is good God oooo” it was loud enough to get everyone back to their senses. Realizing what her song must have done, she opens the gate to her apartment.
