You Can't Avoid The Spirit
The Spirit comes into play in every facet of a child of God’s life such that he/she cannot avoid dealings with the Spirit. By your careful reflection on the under listed, you will be greatly moved to crave for the Spirit’s baptism in your life. Reflect, I say, reflect that God’s child:
1. Is born of the Spirit – John 3:5-8, Galatians 4:4-7.
2. Should be filled with the Spirit – Ephesians 5:18, John 7:38-39, Acts 2:4, 37-38.
3. Should become the temple of the Spirit – 1 Corinthians 6:19.
4. Should be led by the Spirit – Romans 8:14.
5. Lives by the Spirit – Galatians 5:22.
6. Should pray in the Spirit – Ephesians 6:18.
7. Should Worship God by the Spirit – (John 4:23-24 GNB, NIV).
8. Is sealed by the Spirit – Ephesians 1:14; 4:30.
9. Is sanctified by the Spirit – Romans 15:6, 1 Peter 1:2.
10. Should be strengthened with might by the Spirit – Ephesians 3:16.
11. Should work miracles by the Spirit (Romans 15:1819a, NIV).
12. Should witness by the Spirit – Acts 1:8, e.g. Stephen in Acts 7.
13. Should fellowship or commune with the Spirit – 2 Corinthians 13:14.
14. Has access to the Father by the Spirit – Ephesians 3:18.
In addition, reflect on Ezekiel 36:27 and Zechariah 4:6 to appreciate the fact that it is certainly by the Spirit that you and me can live and do God’s work. Oh! It’s all by the Spirit. The arm of flesh will fail anyone; so go all out seeking the Spirit’s empowerment by receiving the Spirit’s baptism. You should be like the Samaritans who receive the word and also received the Spirit in Acts 8:4-14.
Prayer: Lord, create a hunger in heart for your Spirit. A hunger that would make me burst out in cries for the Spirit’s baptism. Yes, a hunger for a deeper experience (fullness) of the Spirit in my life. Lord, my dear Lord, I have come to drink of the Spirit now (John 7:37-38).
