Giving Grace: Key to Career and Business Breakthrough
Pastor Adeboye shared a testimony of when The Redeem Church needed some money for a project in the church and one of his spiritual-sons came to him and said “Daddy God told me to give the church N25million, and how the same person called after just about 2 months to say how God has blessed him. Guess how much he said God gave him after giving the church N25 million, God gave him $25million (N380million) that is a kingdom builder not a stingy-covenant person!
I am not a terrorist I can't sponsor terrorists, I am a covenant man I want to see covenant prevail in my generation.
Let's look at Luke chapter five for example of how breakthrough occurs (I pray that the yoke of selfishness will be smashed in your life forever in the name of Jesus Christ)
It's not just about giving, liberality is different from giving, some people give, some others are liberal, the liberal soul shall be made fat. Being stingy won’t take you anywhere. Look at Abraham, he gave his first son and God blessed him with a nation.
For business breakthrough and exploits one of your major priorities is kingdom expansion, mighty kingdom expansion. Don't go and be giving money to friends, are they your covenant God? Some, what they have given to friends irrelevantly is more than what they give to the kingdom of God, the answer from heaven can never be the same, please get it right! Some are liberal but what they are putting their money into is baskets!
We wanted to buy a generator for the church at the cost of N1.3million, one man came to see me in the office, I wasn't expecting, I don't even know him; he gave us $10,000 (over N1.5 million) for a generator of N1.3 million. This is the kind of covenant liberal giving I am talking about.
Luke chapter 5 is the secret to breakthrough. Read Luke 5
Luke 5:1 "One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God". Now let me tell you what happened, Jesus was standing by the lake, a lot of guys were pressing on him to hear the word so almost pushing him into the water. So he needed something like a platform to stand upon and minister and preach the gospel.
Luke 5:2-3: "he noticed two empty boats at the water's edge, for fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, it's owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there". So he used the boat
Luke 5:4 "When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish"
That was after using the boat, not before using it. The Holy spirit taught me so many things here, one of the things is that when He used the boat he didn't talk to all of the fishermen, he talked to the one he used the boat. Your seed determines your breakthrough, it's not that we all attend the same church and everyone will experience the same breakthrough, no, your seed is your harvest. If you recall from Luke 5, most of the fishermen were already frustrated because they hadn't caught any fish that day. This implies that God does not bless people because of pity; He blesses you when you sow your seeds. After he had used Simon's boat, he called Simon; he spoke particularly to Simon because Simon's boat was the one that was used.
Luke 5:7-9 “Master, "Simon replied, "We worked hard all night and didn't catch a thing. But if you say so, I'll let the nets down again. And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking. When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said "Oh, Lord, please leave me- I’m too much of a sinner to be around you. For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him" I call it humbling breakthrough! You will see it in the name of Jesus Christ.
Learning points
1.Was it in different water that they fished? No. that’s why Peter said, if it is in this water, we have labored in it all night, nothing happened but because you said it, so the question is; from the time they toiled and nothing happened and when Jesus spoke is supernatural, it’s anointing, the fishes were normally, naturally not even there at that time, but when you are a kingdom expander, kingdom promoter, new divine energy enters your business that was not fruitful before to produce new order of fruits. It wasn’t another river where Peter caught the fish, it was the same river they had toiled all nights, and you know fishermen fishes in the night, that’s when fishes come together, at that time Jesus told Peter to throw the net and he caught fishes, biologically, naturally was a wrong time to catch fishes but supernaturally it was okay
2. Many people don't know what they are missing when they are stingy, you are not smart, you will only be toiling with nothing to show for it. But God told me remember the miracle started with Peter giving out his boat. The man that had nothing before now was beckoning to partners. God will expand your business, amen. Now listen, here is what I am saying; as you expand His kingdom, He will begin to expand your business. You that didn’t have anything before will begin to employ people. You can imagine what Peter saw that day in terms of breakthrough, there was no fish over night, so all the fishermen had nothing to sell so. You don’t have to sell before but you now have more than enough probably the only seller that day, you determine the market price! So he knelt down and repented of his sins, no one asked him to be saved. Not only the net was tearing but the boat was also sinking.
You will see breakthroughs in Jesus name, but first you need the giving grace, the question is this, what Peter had refused the use of his boat on that glorious day, and was grumbling about their inability to catch fishes over the night, imagine what would have happened? He had every right to murmur like some people who always complains about money, and never gives, remember that day Peter didn’t make money because he didn’t catch fish, but he didn’t allow that to limit him, he still gave his boat for Jesus to use, so you have no excuse, you are just a stingy person, even if you had have you won’t give!
3. Now the breakthrough of Peter went beyond his career, it affected his destiny, after showed him the breakthrough in fishing, he said now you shall become a fisher of men. Today we remember Simon Peter not as a fisherman but as an apostle of faith. So beyond the breakthrough you get in business, your destiny will be made, you will make history. That is giving grace.
I am grateful God gave me that grace, to depart from anything for His kingdom, anything! Be it house, car, anything, because if God does not give you increase you will never have it. But when God decides to bless you, no man can stop it.

4th Key: Power factor (Zechariah 4)
Zechariah 4:6 “Then he said to me, "This is what the LORD says to Zerubbabel: it is not by force nor by strength, but by my spirit, says the Lord of Heaven's Armies. Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel's way; it will become a level plain before him! And when Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place, the people will shout: 'May God bless it! May God bless it!
That is the levelers anointing, that, that thing has been standing before you as a stumbling block, by the anointing coming upon you this evening, it will be leveled in the name of Jesus Christ. Now some people mountains, but they don't know, it maybe your boss, or anything, but whatever it is, it will roll away in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. And your business will emerge in the name of Jesus Christ!
I pray that every mountain before you shall be leveled by the power of God.
5th Key: Abundance Mentality: you need to stretch the way you see things, you are celebrating that little thing too much. Gratitude doesn't mean we should stay in little things, we should appreciate God where we are but we should be able to move forward, many of us need to expand; the scriptures will help you to see big things. Where you are is too small, it’s too tiny,
Stretch yourself, move yourself.
Let me tell you more about trusting God; you know that things changes look at the stock market for instance, there was a time that it was thriving, another time it was football, but now all that has changed. So you can’t trust in the economy, don’t say I am an IT expert, I will always have a job, who told you that? I am a qualified engineer, I am a doctor, I will always have job, who told you? I want you to trust God, one single move like Peter saw it can change your story. Be specific; trust for breakthrough, that thing you are expecting to get in that your business, trust Him.
Confession: I don't know any ritual killers, it is You I know, without You I can't be great like Abraham, I can’t be great like Isaac, I am free with You Lord. I trust You, it’s not by my experience, all the connections have even failed, I trust You Lord.
Tell God; open my eyes I want to see! Beyond where I am now, take me on. Take me on an adventure of greatness; take me on an adventure of exploits. Holy Ghost open my eyes
I want to see beyond where I am now, show me greatness, show me opportunities, I want to see larger, I want to see greatness, I want to experience that in my heart.
Confession: Make me a great kingdom builder, the same way you used Peter, by using his boat, I want to be a great kingdom builder. Use me Lord in my own way. Destroy stinginess, destroy selfishness, use me, I am not a terrorist Lord, I am not a religious extremist, I am a covenant child, I want to promote your kingdom, I want to be a kingdom builder. Ask Him to use you, tell Him, use me, use my business as that boat, use my finances as your boat, use me, I want to be a kingdom builder, I want your kingdom to have an impact through me. I want to see Jesus’ name glorified. Jesus use me.
Anything that will hinder me, Holy Spirit take it away from me, take away the weaknesses, take away the distractions, take away the selfishness, I submit myself to You. There is no one like you; there is no man like You Jesus.
