Photos: Motorcycle Riders Protest Ban Ahead of February 1 Enforcement Day

Motorcycle riders on the platform of Opay and Gokada hailing services staged a peaceful protest on Friday, to protest the ban announced by the Lagos State Government on motorcycle and tricycle taking effect from February 1st.

Drivers of some of the leading operators in the e-hailing industry are marching to seek Government’s consideration of their plight.

The rally started from the Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja and proceeded to the Lagos state Government house in Alusa.

Many of the protesting riders were armed with different banners with inscriptions such as “Regulate not ban”, “regulate us, not kill us”, “No helmet, no ride”, “over 200 trillion trips no fatality”.
They also argued that lack of job opportunities is why they chose to become E-hailing riders.
