12-Year Old Girl Fighting For Her Life After Contracting Coronavirus
A 12-year-old with no pre-existing medical conditions is fighting for life on a ventilator after contracting coronavirus.
The girl, who has been named only as Emma, was diagnosed with pneumonia on March 15 and tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday night.
She is currently in a stable condition in isolation at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite Hospital in the US.
However, Emma requires a ventilator to breath for her after her lungs became badly affected.
Her cousin Justin Anthony, told CNN that her condition should serve as a warning for those young people unconcerned by the disease.
“Here's a 12-year-old fighting for her life," he told CNN.
“People need to practice social distancing. People need to take care of their children.”
Earlier he wrote on Facebook : "They (Scottish Rite doctors) think she may be one of the youngest cases in GA, and she has zero health issues.
"She was first diagnosed with penumonia.
"Two days ago she started coughing blood and her lungs for worse and she had a transufison.
"They then had to put a central line to her heart.
"Her vitals are better today but she's on a ventilator and unable to breath on her own. Please pray for her safety."
Health experts in the UK and the US have warned older people with underlying health problems that they are most at risk from the coronavirus.
