Master of Masters

Scripture Reference: “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our, God is a consuming fire” – Hebrews 12:28-29.

Joseph stands as a perfect example of a man with covenant fear. This was one of his greatest secrets. It was the umpire that kept him from sin and recklessness. He was humble enough to know that God is the giver of dreams and opportunities and categorically said to Potiphar’s wife - “How then can I do this great evil and sin against God?” He considered his act through the spectacles of God’s feelings. He revered, respected and honored God.

This generation has little fear for God; it stands clear to be the reason for the myriad of calamities that occur. God is a jealous God. He is the Master of masters.

Some years ago, the Lord began to teach me, about His fear, showing me the difference between tender and tough love. There is a tough part of His love. With all sincerity, it is not palatable. Several men in the Bible had to face his tough love. David faced it; Solomon faced it. God began dealing with me about ministry and the man who would be used by Him – such a man would require genuine fear of Him.

Without the fear of God, success becomes failure overnight. This great factor is the oil that maintains success. It keeps a man humble and teachable. It helps great men to know that God is greater regardless of any level we find ourselves. That is why I titled this chapter, the ‘Master of Masters’. In fact, we call Him, Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords. This secret is vital. It helps me to forgive when someone hurts me. I do this because I know that somewhere and somehow I have done something worse to God, and He willingly forgave me.

Joseph was in a position to seek vengeance. His brothers had hurt him terribly, but Joseph feared God. Today, ask yourself this question. Do I really fear God? Do I consider His word or feelings before I take a step? If you do things without such legitimate consideration, then your fear for Him is weak. He is a great God and fearful in deeds. I respect Him; I revere Him. I have holy fear, for Him.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for despising you. Right now, I receive grace to serve you with reverence and holy fear. I choose your wisdom and understanding. Thank you for your mercy in Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
