Modupe Oyetoso was kidnapped in Lanlate on 10 July 2020 while returning from her farm. Her farm is about an hour drive from Lanlate in Oyo State.

According to the victim, she lived in a building on the farm during week days, her fiance also had a room on the farm, and they usually travel to Ibadan on Fridays for the weekend.

On the fateful day she was kidnapped, her fiance was also killed by the kidnappers while they were traveling to Ibadan on Friday evening for the weekend.

Modupe described how they were first attacked by two armed men dressed like Fulani herdsmen, but they managed to escape, but ran into another set of armed men, already waiting for them ahead. This time they were not lucky, as the armed men shot into the moving car, hitting the finance on the back of his head as they made to outrun them.

The car lost control as the bullet from the gunshot ripped his head, as blood gushed out uncontrollably. She said she managed to stop the car which had already swerved into the forest.

Four armed men quickly brought her out of the car, as they continually hit her, she pleaded with them, but they blamed her and her late fiance for trying to escape.

She said she was tied up as they led her through the forest, running for hours, even as it rained, all through the night.

By 6am the next morning, her father was contacted by the kidnappers, who promptly demanded for N50 million ransom for her release.
