FG Apologizes For Ordering Bank Account Holders to Re-register

The Nigerian government, Friday morning apologized for asking all account holders of Nigeria banks and other financial institutions to register.
Yesterday in a tweet originating from the government's official handle, Nigerians were ordered to register the accounts with various financial institutions- FG Orders Nigerians to Re-register Their Bank Accounts
Nigerians took to social media to criticize this move by the government and FG
this morning retracted its statement and deleted its earlier tweet.
Apologizing to Nigerians, FG said: “We apologize for the misleading tweets
(now deleted) that went up yesterday, regarding the completion of
self-certification forms by Reportable Persons. The message contained in the
FIRS Nigeria Notice does not apply to everybody. FIRS will issue appropriate
clarification shortly”.
