A Thai actress has been found dead after reports say she fell off of a speedboat in a river in capital city Bangkok.

Nida Patcharaweeraphony, 37, was with five other friends on board of the speedboat she reportedly fell from as they headed to a restaurant.

The 37-year-old, nicknamed Tang Mo, was apparently seated on the back part of the boat, but it is unclear how she fell into the Chao Phraya river.

Friends of Patcharaweeraphony looked for her for 20 minutes while on the speedboat, but decided to call local rescuers instead, who sent a team of 30 divers to scour the area.

Nida was found two days later, floating in the river around 300 metres away from where she was last seen, Pibulsongkram Pier.

The actress’ brother Dais Dejjab joined the search and rescue mission and was reportedly the one who spotted “something floating” in the water and later positively identified it as Nida through her clothes.

He said: “The pain everyone in the family is going through is unbearable. We loved our sister so much and she brought us so much happiness.

“I would like to thank everyone for their efforts. I came to take her back home now.”
