Social Media Fraudster Arrested In Kano

The Police Command in Kano State have arrested one Musa Lurwanu-Maje suspected to be a social media fraudster.

The 26-year-old allegedly specialized in defrauding people through social media.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa issued a statement on the issue.

The suspect is popularly known on social media as Musa L Maje.

He created male and female names on Facebook and WhatsApp to scam his victims, especially randy lovers.

The police said one Zahra Mansur, 20, complained that she received phone calls from friends.

They notified that someone was using her name, pictures and videos to defraud people.

Afterwards, the Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shu’aibu-Dikko instructed detectives, led by SP Shehu Dahiru, to find the culprit.

The team’s efforts led to the arrest of the suspect, Lurwanu-Maje of Sitti Village, Sumaila Local Government Area.

He was in possession of a Redmi Note 11 Pro phone, valued at N200,000, and other accessories allegedly bought with the proceeds of fraud.

“Also discovered from him were n3de pictures and videos in the mobile phone, and the sum of N70,000 in his possession,” the police said.

The suspect would soon be charged to court for prosecution.

CP Shu’aibu-Dikko advised citizens to be cautious of their social media engagements.

The police chief warned against sharing of pictures, videos and bank account details with unknown persons.
