Students Protest Lack Of Lecturers, Lock Out Rector
Category: Education News
The students, who denied staff members, including the rector, entrance to the premises, accused the school management of neglecting their welfare and academic needs.
Punch correspondent, who visited the school, observed as some of the students sat at the main entrance and carried placards with various inscriptions depicting their grievances.
Some of the placards read, ‘We need lectures’, ‘we need effective lecturers’, ‘We are tired’, ‘Not just words, we need action’, ‘Are JAMBites more important?’ among others.
A student in the department, Frederick Charles, said, “We got tired of how the management was treating us because for a month since we resumed, we have not had lectures for a single day.”
The students gave the school one week to meet their demands for lecturers, hostel fumigation and improved welfare.
The institute’s Bursar, Temienor Joseph, said the school was recruiting lecturers.
