The Hypocrites and Pretenders
Category: City Pastor's Teachings
There are too many hypocritical Christians and religious people in the world today. Truly hypocrites have been in existence since the time of the old. Amos a farmer was sent by God Almighty to warn hypocrites to change their ways. Even Jesus Christ our Lord and savior warned against hypocrites in the New Testament.
A lot of Christians are pretenders and hypocrites, they are saints when they are in church but check them out when they get to their homes, they are something else. They know how to give millions as offerings in the church but cannot give hundred naira to a beggar on the street.
They know how to sing songs of praise and worship on Sundays but Bob Marley and Kayane West are their favorites on the other days of the week, what a pity!

I am not against listening to other kind of songs, after all in the Old
Testament when Saul whenever Saul was depressed, David do sing for him to calm
his spirit and we were not told that those songs were godly songs.
My take is that; don’t prove to be so holy in the church when your heart is
truly not after God. I am not also saying you shouldn’t praise God when in
church, what I am saying is that God should be praise all the time, whether in
the church, in the home or in your office.
God is saying, “I hate all your show and pretense- the hypocrisy of your
religious festivals and solemn assemblies. I will not accept your burnt
offerings and grain offerings. I won’t even notice all your choice peace
offerings” Amos 5:21-22 (NLT)

So God is not interested in all you Sunday to Sunday religious practices, He
says He is not even interested in your offerings. He says; go “Away with your
noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. Instead,
I want to see a mighty flood of justice and endless river of righteous living”
Amos 5: 23-24 (NLT)
So what God is after is continuous righteous living and not Sunday-Sunday
holiness. That is the only way you can please Him.
Praise God.
