Attack On Suleman’s Convoy: Edo Police Withdraws DPO

The Edo State Police Command, on Saturday reacted to the assassination attempt on Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries.The outgoing state Police Commissioner, AIG Abutu Yaro, ordered the withdrawal of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Auchi Division, CSP Ayodele Suleiman, over the incident.
Recall that some unknown gunmen had attempted to assassinate Suleman in Auchi on Friday evening.
Seven persons, including police escorts were confirmed killed during the attack.
One of the suspects, who was reportedly arrested alive and handed over to the police, was killed by an officer.
But, Suleman had accused the police of trying to cover up the incident by killing the only suspect.
He stressed that the incident was not a kidnap but an assassination attempt on him.
However, the outgoing police commissioner in the state ordered the immediate withdrawal of the DPO for debriefing.
A statement by the spokesman of the state Command, Iwegbu Jennifer, said: “As part of the measures of the Command concerning the circumstances that led to the death of one of the surviving members of the monstrous gang that attacked the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleiman, General overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, the outgoing CP now AIG Abutu Yaro has ordered the withdrawal of CSP Ayodele Suleiman, DPO Auchi for debriefing at the State Headquarters with immediate effect.
“Meanwhile, members of the Public are urged to remain calm and patient as no stone would be left unturned to unearth the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
