Delta Police Arrests 58-Year-Old Gun Runner, Nine Others

Operatives of Delta State Police Command, yesterday, arrested a 58-year- old gunrunner and nine others at Agba quarters, Emuhu Community, in Ika North-East Local Council of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, said the suspected ringleader, one Peter Okolie and his gang specializes in manufacturing locally made guns, and other arms.

According to Edafe, the suspects were arrested through credible intelligence reports hence, “the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali detailed the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) to carry out intensive raids in the said area.”

He said: “On Monday, the team led by the Commander SACU, Christopher Igbaji, raided the hideout in Emuhu Community, during which, 42 locally made single barrel guns, six double barrel guns, three pump action guns, two filing machines, and a tool box containing fabricated materials working tools were recovered.

“The suspected ringleader, and his men, all from Agba Quarters Emuhu were detained in police custody along with the exhibits, while investigation is ongoing.

“The Commissioner had commended the team for the successful operation and assured all residents in the state that the police will not relent in the fight against crime and criminality, noting that proactive policing and community police is key in this fight.”

Edafe tasked all to continue to partner with the Command by giving useful, timely and credible information that will help to fight crime in the state.
